Off the Map
Pickel and Leavitt Meadows are the jumping off points to some great back country
fishing . Pull out your map of the Hoover Wilderness. Heading south
from Leavitt Meadow you pass Roosevelt and Lane Lakes which offer good camping and fishing.
Pushing a little farther you can find Fremont Lake where the early season fishing is
fabulous for big rainbows. Beyond lie the Chain of Lakes, Cinco Lake and then the northern
edge of Yosemite National Park.
