Off the Map

The area west of this fishing map also includes some great fishing places worth experiencing. Between Ebbetts Pass and Lake Alpine are many fine destinations such as Highland Lakes (a Featured Trip), Hermit Valley, Mosquito Lakes, and Lake Alpine. There are numerous campgrounds along the western slope of Ebbetts Pass such as Pacific Valley, Hermit Valley, and Lake Alpine.

To the north beyond Markleeville is Highway 88. Driving west on Highway 88 will take you into Hope Valley and then beyond up to Carson Pass. A great place to stay along Highway 88 is Sorenson's Resort.

Backpacking along the Pacific Crest Trail from the top of Ebbetts Pass will also lead you to some excellent fishing locations. To the south less than 3 miles lies Noble Lake while to the north a day's hike would carry you to a whole cluster of lakes such as Raymond Lake and the Sunset Lakes.
