Mandatory Shuttle Bus

A mandatory shuttle service runs from Mammoth to the Devils Postpile/Reds Meadow area. The shuttle bus will run from June 24 through September 7, 2011. During this time, all visitors (except those camping or with disabilities) are required to ride the shuttle bus.

All visitors, regardless if they use the mandatory shuttle system, are camping, or drive their own vehicle, must pay a transportation fee in order to enter Reds Meadow Valley.

Shuttle Fees

Day Pass: Adults $7, Children 3-15 $4, Children under 3 free
3-Day Pass: Adults $14, Children 3-15 $8, Children under 3 free
Season Pass: Adults $35, Children 3-15 $20, Children under 3 free

Vehciles meeting any of the following criteria may drive to the valley, however, the standard amentity fee must be paid at the Minaret Vista Station upon entry or exit.

  • Parties with a valid Disabled Persons parking placard or plate
  • Campers staying in a Valley campground
  • Guests of the Red's Meadow Resort
  • Vehicles towing stock trailers or carrying watercraft
  • Hunters transporting weapons or large game
  • Vehicles arriving before 7:00am or after 7:00pm

The area west of this fishing map also includes some fabulous back country fishing places worth the hike. By heading north out of Agnew Meadow you climb up to meet the John Muir Trail amidst some of the most beautiful lakes in the Sierra, Garnet Lake and Thousand Island Lake. A great loop hike would than take you south on the John Muir Trail and back round to Reds Meadow.
